No one likes to experience rejection or to be disappointed, but we all have been there before. The fear of rejection or even dealing with the lingering effects of past rejections can lead us to pull away, shrinking back from doing things we truly want to do in life out of fear. God never intended for us to live with fear:
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. ( Isaiah 41:10 NLT)
Devotion: Security in God
No matter what lies the enemy tries to deceive us with, the good news is we have security because of Jesus! Feeling secure allows us to have freedom in everything, never limited by fearful feelings. It also enables us to take leaps of faith; stepping out in life to do unconventional things.
Insecurity is damaging because it can cause us to make poor choices if we aren’t careful. We can be assured of God’s love for us by changing our perspective to a more spiritual one. We can never rely on earthly things to make us feel secure – these things will eventually fade.
Overcome insecurity by replacing those wrong thoughts and feelings with the right ones – what God says! Having the knowledge of who we are in Christ, actually believing it, and putting our worth in what He says about us is what gives us true security.
The awareness of God’s love overshadows insecurity, allowing us to live our best life. God always wants us to feel secure in Him, knowing that nothing can separate us from His love.
Additional Verses for Further Study of Finding Security in God:
“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love.” ( Romans 8:38-39 NLT)
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” (2 Timothy 1:7 NLT)
Prayer Starter:
“Lord, Your love comforts me. Confidence in You alone fills me with the security I need to live my life the way you called me to live it.”
Wishing you all a great week!
