An unfocused mind eventually brings on discouragement and discontentment. We are constantly inundated with images and ideas that we need the next thing or event to happen in order to be worthy and in order to be fulfilled … yes, FINALLY happy! But this is simply not true! We can enjoy where we are with what we’ve got at the present moment, knowing that we are exactly where God wants us to be. We rest in knowing that He’s already given us all that we need, and will further equip us for what’s to come along the way.
God gifts us with direct access to Him. We have constant communication with Him by way of prayer. It is through prayer then meditating on the Word of God that renewal occurs. Renewal of the mind reveals truth to us- God’s truth. Furthermore, it allows us to see ourselves the way God does, erasing the wrong thoughts, beliefs, and ideas that the world would like us to believe.
Keep in mind that the enemy wants our mind to be scattered, our spirit discouraged, and for us to never live the abundant life Jesus died for us to have. But God is good to us, providing the Holy Spirit is our companion and helper, always inviting us to connect with God in a deeper more meaningful way.
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:1-2 NIV)
Every day we are blessed to have a new chance to gain a renewed sense of self, renewed thoughts, and renewed beliefs. Renewing our minds preps us for all that we will encounter in a day’s time.
God gives us new mercies each day. Be sure to make time for God in order to experience His refreshing of the spirit and renewal of the mind. This will drastically change the course of your day for the better!
