Does anyone else get that weird feeling of total satisfaction when you use products until there’s nothing left?! I try to finish everything I buy, even if I’m not so crazy about it, so it doesn’t end up as money down the drain. So, after a few months of stockpiling empty containers, I’m sharing my first round of beauty empties today!
Seeing what others like and dislike after things have been completely used helps when I’m in the market for new stuff to try out. These posts and videos are especially helpful because you’re able to get a mini-review of things, which makes picking new products to try much easier.
Lets’ jump in…there’s some really good things to talk about!
Beauty Empties | November 2016
Makeup:
- Lancome Teinte Idole Ultra 24 hr Foundation (shade 450 Suede N) – I finished another bottle of this foundation and I can’t say enough good about it! Not only is it a spot-on match for my skin, it wears beautifully all day long, keeps me shine-free, and looks natural all at the same time on my oily skin. It doesn’t feel heavy or greasy, but gives a mostly-matte finish. The bottle is slim and comes nicely packaged with a pump. I have to have this in my stash at all times…my #1 … Ride or Die status foundation!
- CoverGirl The Super Sizer Mascara (Very Black) – This mascara lengthens well and keeps lashes separated nicely. It works best with a small amount of product on the wand and to use a single swipe motion to apply 1-2 coats. I try new mascaras all the time and although I loved the way it made my lashes look, for some odd reason it makes my eyelids kind of itchy. If you don’t have very sensitive eyes, I’m certain that you’ll love this one.
- MAC Getaway Bronze Blush – This is perfection as far as glowy blush shades go! I found this a few years back at the CCO (The Cosmetic Company Outlet) and I was so sad to use it all. It is natural looking on the cheeks and just gives a pretty glow to deeper skin-tones. Unfortunately, it was part of the limited edition To The Beach collection. I will be searching high and low for a replacement container of this blush. I do hear that MAC Sunbasque is a very close match to this.
Skin Care:
- Lancome Crème Mousse Confort Creamy Foaming Cleanser – Another gem from Lancome! This gentle foaming cleanser feels luxurious and smells just like fresh roses. It contains rose hip oil as a main ingredient and I find that it is perfect for times when my skin may be a tad dry. It doesn’t clog pores and works to keep the skin’s moisture barrier strong, therefore, my skin isn’t stripped. Anyone, especially those with normal to drier skin, would like this one. I really liked this with the Clarisonic for night-time cleansing.
- Dr. Bronner’s Pure Castile Soap– I have used this for years for deep cleaning my makeup brushes. Castile soap can be used in so many other ways around the home, and can even be used as a body wash. It does need to be diluted before using. If you are not into scented things, there’s an unscented option. While this does a great job cleaning, I have been through so many bottles that I am wanting to try something new to keep my brushes clean. I will continue to buy this in the meantime for household use.
- Clinique Moisture Surge Intense – Gel moisturizers are ideal for anyone who has oily skin and this a fantastic one. I love that Clinique products tend to mesh well with sensitive skin-types. I finished this deluxe sample and it has become a staple product. It really hydrates and works wonders after a clay-based masque to replenish any moisture lost. When used at night this leaves skin very hydrated and soft the next morning, without having to use a ton of product. It also wears well during the day under makeup. It disappears into the skin easily and doesn’t leave a tacky or heavy film.
- GlamGlow Youthmud – This masque is AMAZING! This keeps pores really clean and actually does a phenomenal job detoxifying. A little does go a long way, as well. There is also a small size available without investing so much at once if you want to try it out first. I definitely want to try more from this brand.
- Mario Badescu Hyaluronic Eye Cream – I’m such a Mario Badescu fan, and I’ve used up another container of this cult favorite eye cream. It contains hylauranic acid, so it hydrates the eye area well. This is thick and creamy, yet it’s not greasy at all. It layers under concealer and is a smart choice for basic eye cream that won’t irritate the eye area.
Body Care:
- Cremo Coconut Mango Shave Cream– This smells very fruity and helps to get good shave. This was a new product discovery for me, and I fell in love with the layer of slip I am able to get when I use this, over other shave creams and gels. The extra layer of slip makes a barrier so I don’t nick or irritate my skin. I get a really close shave using Cremo. Directions say to use a very small amount, so this tube lasts a really long time.
- Eucalyptus Spearmint Body Wash from Bath and Body Works smells fresh and has a spa-like scent. This is a good one and it smells up the entire bathroom during a shower and after. I have noticed that the website lists this one as a retired scent, so if you like it as much as I do, stock up now!
- Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer (Green Tea Oil) – Just apply this in the shower to wet skin so it really cuts down on some time getting ready. After patting dry, skin has a very light layer of moisture, making it my top choice for a body moisturizer when the weather is warmer. While I do like this for spring and summer, I go for much richer creams and lotions for cooler months.
Hair Care:
- Keracare Hydrating Detangling Shampoo and Humecto Conditioner– I finished up a travel size of the shampoo and a full size of the conditioner from Keracare. This duo works great with my hair type to keep it moisturized and make it easy to detangle. I re-discovered these a few months back and it’s been a match made in heaven!
That’s it for this round of beauty empties! I hope you got some good information from it. Now, I’m heading to throw out some empty containers!
