Thankfulness

Bible Verses about Thankfulness

The holiday season is here, which means it’s a time of reflection and thankfulness for many of us. Developing an attitude of thankfulness is beneficial all year round. We all have much to be thankful for, even if it does not always seem that way! Even if you are having a hard time finding things to be thankful for, I encourage you to start meditating on these 10 verses to start. As you do, the Lord will reveal more of himself to you to transform your perspective.

Keeping the word of God close helps our mind to stay fixed on the good things that the Lord has done, causing us to be overwhelmed with the spirit of thankfulness. Today I wanted to encourage you with 10 of my go-to verses about thankfulness. Enjoy!

10 Bible Verses About Thankfulness

“I will give thanks to the Lord because of his righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the Lord Most High.” (Psalm 7:17)

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” (1 Chronicles 16:34)

“Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.” (Psalm 100:4)

“I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Corinthians 1:4)

“I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving.” (Psalm 69:30)

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” (Philippians 4:6)

“You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.” (2 Corinthians 9:11)

“With praise and thanksgiving they sang to the Lord: “He is good; his love toward Israel endures forever.” And all the people gave a great shout of praise to the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid.” (Ezra 3:11)

“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” (Colossians 4:2)

Wishing you all a great week!

Speaking Words of Faith

Speaking Words of Faith and Life

When we choose to speak words of faith, we are in fact, speaking life! Everything about God is positive and uplifting, even  God’s word. Applying God’s truth to every area of our lives, including our speech makes a positive influence on others as it also transforms our very own outlook for the future itself.

The soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit. (Proverbs 15:4)

Remembering to be truthful as we speak words of faith is important. For example, we shouldn’t outright ignore unpleasant things going on in our lives, but we do however, speak God’s life-giving word over those things.

The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences. (Proverbs 18:21)

Studying what God’s word says about our unique situations is what we should do. So, instead of developing a habit of dwelling on the negative aspects, we can put a positive spin on those situations using God’s transformative word instead. Practicing this builds up our faith and also strengthens the relationship we have with God.

Devotion: Speaking Words of Faith

If you’re having a difficult time knowing what the word of God says about your situation, the first thing to do is to pray. Ask God to reveal verses to you that apply to what you’re going through. Ask God to help you properly monitor the words you speak in daily life.

Take control of what I say, O Lord, and guard my lips. (Psalm 141:3)

God’s word brings about change and never comes back void. Keeping the faith in the Lord as we endure is what will give us joy in the midst of those things. Always remember that the words we speak largely depend on what’s filling our hearts.

Additional Verses To Further Study Speaking Life

“God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God.” (Matthew 5:9)

“The words of the godly are a life-giving fountain; the words of the wicked conceal violent intentions.” (Proverbs 10:11)

“so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11)

Prayer Starter:

“Lord, You’re amazing! Your word is what I cling to to enable me to speak life. I ask that You begin to show me all areas where I need to improve my speech, then fill me with the truths that will bring about change to those areas.”

Wishing you all a great week!

God Finishes What He Starts

God finishes what he starts devotion

being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 1:6)

Everything that God starts, he finishes. Wherever he leads us, he will provide for us. Life may not be perfect right now, but focusing on what God has promised is what strengthens our trust in him.

We are in partnership with the Lord. In the verse above, Paul understands that good outcomes are not up to him but rather are ultimately up to God. All of Paul’s trust is in God – and only God! The Lord wants us to operate under this same understanding in our own lives. Reading the word of God prepares us to do good and transforms us for what God wants us to do.

Devotion: God Finishes What He Starts

As we continue to draw closer in relationship, we can rest assured of these two things:  that God is capable of doing the work in our lives, and has promised to complete it! Day by day, we are being made into what God wants us to be. Past disappointments and failures don’t hinder the good work God wants to do in our lives. True repentance and turning back to God allows Him to continue to work in us. God is simply looking for our cooperation.

For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. (Romans 8:29)

Great things happen when we turn our focus away from ourselves, and more on Jesus. When this shift happens, we are more able to partner with Jesus to do His work here on earth.

Additional Verses For Further Study:

“Yet you, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.” (Isaiah 64:8)

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” ( 2 Timothy 3:16-17)
“The LORD will accomplish what concerns me; Your lovingkindness, O LORD, is everlasting; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.” ( Psalm 138:8)

Prayer Starer:

“Lord, I am thankful that You equip me for every good work! Every day, I ask that I am made more like You. You are faithful.”

Wishing you all a great week!
