Letting God Be God

Letting God be God Devotion

A personal relationship with God is vital to living an abundant life! God wants to be our number one priority and He ultimately wants each of our hearts. He wants to be above anything else in our lives, such as tending to our to-do lists, meeting the needs of our family, or tending to obligations.

Living abundantly allows us to have ample amounts  good things to give and share to others. An abundant life is one that overflows with love, peace, joy, blessings.  It is not a life of discontentment, anxiety, fear, anger , frustration or any kind of lack. Often times, we take the reigns of our own lives, without making God the first priority or without even seeking His way, before our own way.

Devotion: Letting God Be God

His way always brings contentment!  Our ways always bring the unpleasant things in life: exhaustion, worry, anxiety, fear, anger, frustration, and even lack. This is simply because we are not meant to do it on our own!

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” (Matthew 11: 28-30 MSG)

Friends, we all NEED God! Our world needs God! Our human ability and understanding is far too limited to even comprehend God’s overall plan. Giving our hearts to him daily is sometimes hard to do, but know that much reward comes from doing so. Overthinking, overplanning, and not moving with the Spirit of God leads to things outside of God’s will for us.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. ( Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV)

He sees all and He knows all, beginning to the end. So trusting God with the “details” and giving up control frees us! Freedom to truly live, truly love, and to truly trust is ours when we let go. All of these things deepen our faith, as well as our confidence in Him when we let go of the reigns, letting God be God in our lives.

Bible Verses To Further Study Allowing God To Be God

“But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)

““The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?  The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?”  (Psalm 27:1)

“But now, this is what the Lord says…Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.”  (Isaiah 43:1 )

“Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.” (Psalm 55:22)

Prayer Starter:

“Lord, You are in control of my life. I step back, in order to let you be God in my life. Trying to do things on my own brings frustration, anxiety, and fear. But Your way brings contentment, joy, and abundance of all good things! I release my life into Your Sovereign hands.”

Wishing you all a great week!

Living On Purpose

Living Life On Purpose

Living life a life of purpose is something that everyone wants and God desires it for us, too! We will only find our true identify and our life’s purpose from God. Therefore, in order to live life “on purpose,” we have to consult God, our sovereign maker, who has full control over our lives. He’s author and the finisher of our faith!

Devotion: Living Life On Purpose

Focusing on His purpose over our own wants and desires for our lives is what brings clarity in the life of a believer. The bible teaches us this truth in Job 12:10 :

It is God who directs the lives of his creatures;
everyone’s life is in his power. (Job 12:10 GNT)

The word of God is full of wisdom and truth. So, turning to God’s word gives us insight and revelation into what our purpose is in Him! The bible thoroughly describes to us why we are here, what things we should avoid in life, how life works, and even what we can expect in the future! Relying on God’s word enables us to build our lives on eternal truths.

Additional Verses To Further Study Living a Life of Purpose

“looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:2 NKJV)

“All things are done according to God’s plan and decision; and God chose us to be his own people in union with Christ because of his own purpose, based on what he had decided from the very beginning.” (Ephesians 1:11 GNT)

“You were chosen according to the purpose of God the Father and were made a holy people by his Spirit, to obey Jesus Christ and be purified by his blood. May grace and peace be yours in full measure.”

Prayer Starter:

“Heavenly Father,  Your word reveals to me the good plans and purpose you have for my life. It sheds light and gives me clear direction. You are great, Lord, and reign sovereign in my life!”

Wishing you all a great week!

God’s Indescribable Love

God's Indescribable Love

“For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.” (Colossians 1:16)

God loves us! We are made in God’s own image; created through him and for him. Entering into a lifelong relationship with the Lord by faith allows us total freedom in this life, along with the confidence of having a secure future with God. It’s amazing that that our God desires nothing more than to be in a living and loving relationship with each of us.

“So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” (Ephesians 3:17-19)

Devotion: God’s Indescribable Love

Only Jesus can fill empty spaces in our hearts and His love is truly indescribable! We know that every relationship in our lives requires time cultivating them in order to grow something beautiful out of them. So, taking proper time to get to know God, as a Father, makes our confidence in Him stronger, our faith stronger, and our relationships with others stronger as we carry out God’s purpose.

In the same way that a parent just adores their children, God also adores us, his children! Think about it like this: parenting often presents it’s fair share of challenges, however, the challenges never ever change the level of the love that a parent has for his or her own children. We are loved no matter what we do, will do, or have done! His arms are always open wide. I pray that you find comfort in God’s loving arms this week!

Additional Verses To Further Study God’s Indescribable Love

“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,” (John 1:2)

Wishing you all a great week!

Following Faithfully

Following Jesus Faithfully

Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:14-16 MSG)

Jesus is the light of the world! When we enter into relationship with Him, He re-creates us to make us light, as well. Our charge is to focus only on Jesus, trusting His ways and His timing in our own lives, as we usher others into relationship with Him.

Whoever follows me will have the light of life and will never walk in darkness” (John 8:12b TEV).

Devotion: Following Jesus Faithfully

Following faithfully, wherever He leads us, takes boldness as we trust in Jesus to reveal the light through us. Letting Jesus’ light shine though us sometimes means following Him even when things seem unclear, or even are uncomfortable to us. Faith is made stronger when we trust in the seen, as well as the unseen things.

Surrendering makes space for real transformation to take place in our lives as we become more like Christ. Our Father gives us divine wisdom and direction. Following God will always lead us into greatness! God wants to get the glory out of our lives, and He certainly deserves it! Our job is to simply be willing to follow wherever He leads, stepping aside as we allow Jesus to work through us.

Do everything readily and cheerfully—no bickering, no second-guessing allowed! Go out into the world uncorrupted, a breath of fresh air in this squalid and polluted society. Provide people with a glimpse of good living and of the living God. Carry the light-giving Message into the night so I’ll have good cause to be proud of you on the day that Christ returns. You’ll be living proof that I didn’t go to all this work for nothing. (Philippians 2:15-16 MSG)

Additional Verses To Further Study:

Jesus said, “For a brief time still, the light is among you. Walk by the light you have so darkness doesn’t destroy you. If you walk in darkness, you don’t know where you’re going. As you have the light, believe in the light. Then the light will be within you, and shining through your lives. You’ll be children of light.” (John 12:35 MSG)

“Remember, our Message is not about ourselves; we’re proclaiming Jesus Christ, the Master. All we are is messengers, errand runners from Jesus for you. It started when God said, “Light up the darkness!” and our lives filled up with light as we saw and understood God in the face of Christ, all bright and beautiful.” ( 2 Corinthians 4:6 MSG)

“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.” (Isaiah 60:1 KJV)

Prayer Starter:

“Lord, You are the light of the world! You have made me to be light here on earth. Keep my focus on You at all times so that I have direction and purpose for each day.”

Wishing you all a great week!

Being a Doer of The Word

Being a Doer of The Word Devotion

“But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.” (James 1:22)

It’s wonderful to spend time reading, reflecting on, sharing, and hearing God’s word, but we are called to do so much more with the beautiful truth that God’s word reveals to us. We have to put what we know to be true into action! Applying God’s word to our lives each day not only shows that we are wise, but also positions us for abundant blessings from above!

“Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them” (John 13:17)

God’s word is the foundation for life itself. Hearing the word and not applying it leads to deception. When we take time to learn the truth and then apply it to our own lives, we are made to be more stable; built on a solid foundation. Stability in Christ allows us not to easily be shaken by attacks from the enemy that come our way in the form of deception and lies.

God’s word tells us that as long as we are living here on Earth, we will have problems. So, it is false hope to continue to search for a problem-free life here on Earth. Instead of searching for solutions to problems or focusing on living a problem free life, let’s shift our focus to only searching for Jesus and allowing Him space in our hearts each day. This is how we are filled, which causes us to reflect the glory of the Lord to others.

“Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” (Matthew 7:24)

We are blessed when we are doers of God’s word!

Additional Verses For Further Study of Being a Doer of The Word:

“So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.” (2 Corinthians 2:18 NLT)

But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. (James 1:22-24 NLT)

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. (Hebrews 4:12 NLT)

Prayer Starter:

“Lord, I am thankful for Your truth. Your word guides my life. Fill me with even more of You, so that I can be a doer of your word.”

Wishing you all a great week!
