October Baby Favorite Items

Is anyone else really excited for the weekend to officially begin?! It’s going to be Jacob’s very first Halloween, so I just can’t wait to dress him up in his little duckling costume!!! We don’t get too much into actual Halloween in my family, but we are going to dress the baby in a cute costume (how could I not!) and hand out candy to the neighborhood kids. With October just about to end, I am looking forward to November and all of the Thanksgiving festivities coming up, as well as my Birthday that’s in early November. Today, l’m all about sharing with you guys our Baby + Mommy Favorites for October. We have constantly used these few things around here. Here’s a quick view of our baby favorite items for the month:

Mustela Stelatopia– This moisturizing cream has been a true lifesaver lately for Jacob’s dry skin. It is geared toward babies and kids with very dry and/or eczema-prone skin and it has worked wonders for his dry areas. It’s very light and I love that it absorbs easily because these days, I can’t hold him down! He’s all over the place when we try to change his diaper, dress him, or moisturize his skin! This has been used a whole lot for the month of October.
Halloween Sleep N’ Plays– These were just too cute and are festive without being morbid and scary. No way was I going to pass these up on a trip to Wal-mart a few months ago! I grabbed them and put them away until October officially [Read more…]

Make Your Own Easy Homemade Baby Food

Today is all about making easy homemade baby food! I have had the best time making baby food for Jacob! He thinks the food is pretty tasty and I enjoy the whole process of making it for him, coming up with my own recipes for him, following fun recipes I find, and also I like knowing what exactly goes into his food and into his system.Introducing one new food at a time every 3-4 days and keeping a notebook of what has and what has not been introduced is very helpful in the beginning. Once you have individual foods that have been safely introduced, it’s great to begin mixing the approved individual foods together and having some fun with variety of foods and textures. The notebook also includes information on whether or not he liked or did not like certain foods on their own, and also what happened with different combinations given. I find the notes and photos taken of him trying each food for the first time to be a good little keepsake as well.

Current Wishlist: Home Decor Items

There are tons of things I want to get for all different categories and I keep a running Wishlist for each at all times …you should see the notes section of my iPhone haha! Today I want to share my current Wishlist for Home Items. I am not doing a complete over-haul and start from scratch with my home decor. I am just wanting to simply add to what I already have going on, with the exception of us planning to add a neutral colored sectional sofa on the main living floor and then us replacing our current bed with an upholstered bed in the upcoming months. The inspirations seen above will mesh seamlessly with the current mood of my overall home design style. With lots of refreshing and rearranging in the works, these are the things that I am most inspired by for now as I shop around for home items:

1. This unique vase from Z Gallerie has been on my list for quite some time. I love how it adds interest and would look stunning with fresh flowers in it.

2. This gold flatware set looks so chic and it is perfect for my home because I enjoy the look of mixed metals.

3. This tray is very glam and I would like to use it in my Butler’s Pantry area to display some pretty gold-etched glasses. I like the mixture of metal and glass on this one. It makes a very nice contrast with the difference in materials used.

Great Fall Children’s Books

I wanted to share just a few of my picks for great Fall children’s books that I have used in the past in my classroom and that I currently use at home with Jacob. I like to keep themed book baskets with lots of fiction and non fiction selections to choose from for our reading times. He really likes listening to stories and looking at the pictures-it’s really cute 🙂 These Fall children’s books are great early childhood selections. One includes a bit of rhyme and repetition, some teach cause and effect, and also sequencing skills. These are all equally great for helping young children make connections between what they are reading and what goes on in their own lives. Two of these selections also have YouTube read aloud versions you may enjoy during story time, on the go, or just the audio during nap/quiet time, just as we have. Favorite Baby & Mommy Products for September

I have a few baby and mommy favorites to share for today’s post! September is quickly coming to a close and has been a great month for sure. Jacob is growing up way too fast and we have been enjoying lots of things for the entire month. So, I wanted to take some time and share a few of our favorites and why we like them. Take a look!

1.Bright Starts Teethe Me Pal Teether– Jacob is teething and absolutely adores this little blue elephant teether. The design is so clever- it has four legs that mimic baby’s own fingers! He gets hours of soothing relief from this thing. It’s the best $5 ever spent and definitely a favorite baby product of ours! I like how the body of the elephant is easy for his little hands to hold and how it is dishwasher safe.
2.Fisher-Price Superstar Step n’ Play Piano– This bright and fun activity center keeps baby very interested because of the colors and there’s so much to do. With the glider rails he is able to walk/practice walking down the center of the center forwards and backwards. The seat allows him to spin around to all areas front and back, or simply stay stationary and bounce to practice standing while playing with the gadgets. What I love most is that it grows with him so he can continue to use it until he is a toddler, as it converts to have stand and play work stations for older kiddos once the seat is removed. The cute little piano base is fun for him too.
