It’s the last day of March and I’m sharing some empties! As y’all know, I’ve been doing some major spring cleaning. My spring cleaning kick wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t get throw out the collection of empty containers I have been hoarding for months! Everyone will have different experiences with products, but mini-reviews are helpful when shopping around for new things. I’ve got some goodies to finally talk about!
Spring 2017 Empties
Makeup:
- e.l.f. Clear Brow Gel and Mascara – A good, inexpensive way to keep brows in line. I go through countless tubes of this stuff and I actually remembered to save the tube this time!
- Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer – This is my #1 primer and I have used it for years! Works with oily skin so it doesn’t make you more oily. I used up this one I got as a 100 point perk, but I do love how the bigger sizes come with a pump. It makes makeup glide on smoothly, contains mineral spf, and makes makeup last longer.
- NYX Micro Brow Pencil, Espresso – Such a good dupe for Anastasia Brow Wiz! It does go a little faster than Brow Wiz, but its half the price (and that’s without a sale going on…imagine the savings if you catch this on sale!)
- GloMinerals Lipgloss, Blushing – Creamy, moisturizing , and it is the perfect pink for warmer skin tones! This little cutie was a freebie with a LovelySkin order. I will definitely buy the full size after I use up some more glosses I’m using at the moment.
- NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, Caramel – Hands down the best concealer I have used to date. This works well for the under eye area to brighten, but can also be used elsewhere to conceal. There’s just something about NARS products that just make them blend easily.
- BareMinerals Pure Radiance – This mineral powder is a constant repurchase and works great to brighten under my eyes in lieu of traditional liquid concealer formulas. It gives a pretty, natural looking glow to the skin, similar to a highlighter. I love how it can be used all over for a radiant effect where ever you need it. It is so versatile and can even be mixed in body lotion for a little hint of shimmer.
- Almay Get Up and Grow One Coat Mascara – This is a very natural looking and effective lengthening mascara. Love it for quick everyday makeup. Perfect for that ‘no makeup, makeup’ look.
- Revlon Ultimate All-in-One Mascara– I go through tons of mascaras and I like to try different formulas and brands. This one was great, particularly for my lower lashes due to the size of the wand. Check out my full review!
Skin Care + Beauty:
- Aveeno Absolutely Ageless Eye Cream– This eye cream confuses me to say the least. At first, I loved how cooling it felt on the skin and liked how light it was. Later I realized it was doing NOTHING to moisturize my under eye area. I don’t like to waste money or product, so I finished it but won’t buy it again. There are so many other options that are better for the same exact price.
- Kate Somerville Anti Bac Clearing Lotion – Kate and I are on a first name basis cause her products are amazing (ha!). It’s an all over facial treatment lotion that keeps breakouts away without over-drying skin. Combining this with a few other gems I’ve discovered over the last year or so have all helped me to successfully stop using Proactiv for over a year now.
- Epionce Lytic Gel Cleanser – Love it and won’t be without it! It’s a gel, so it doesnt foam, but it leaves the skin feeling fresh and not stripped. It removes makeup and properly cleanses skin for toning and serums. This also helps keep skin clear because it contains willow bark extract. Epionce is a great botanically-based medical grade skincare line that I’m loyal to. They have many other great products that I also use in my routine. I’ll be talking about my skincare favorites in some future posts.
- Belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb – This is a really good K-Beauty product. It’s a gel moisturizer and is effective at moisturizing skin without making skin more oily. It has a slightly herbal scent that fades quickly. Bonus points for packaging on this one … the lid looks like a little top hat 🙂
- Caudalie Beauty Elixir – I mentioned in a previous post my thoughts on this. I’ve gone though a few smaller bottles so I’m going to order the full size when I finish up the current bottle I’m using.
- Almay Makeup Remover Pads – These are gentle, quick, affordable, and work like a charm to remove eye makeup. One pre-soaked pad per eye, front and back, gets the job done. I don’t have to waste my good facial cotton on just removing eye makeup, so that’s great. Theres also no need to buy a separate eye makeup remover- gotta love an all-in-one product, right? (tip: you can usually find these in bonus packs with 2 containers clustered together, two for the price of one!)
BodyCare + Nails
- Aveeno Positively Nourishing Calming Body Wash – This is a relaxing and creamy lavender scented body wash. It Lathers a ton and gives off a lightly pleasant scent that lingers.
- The Body Shop Smoky Poppy Shower Gel- If you don’t like floral, you won’t like this… run far, far away! I like light floral scents, but it is heavily poppy scented and was overpowering. I wouldn’t buy this particular scent again, although the formula of the body shop washes are great.
- C. Booth Ginger Sugar Body Scrub – This is a really gritty, true scrub that works. The oils it contains stay on the skin, giving you the softest skin of your life when you’re done 🙂 The spicy ginger smell is heavenly and I buy this over and over again.
- Essie Rock Solid – This base-coat worked great to strengthen and harden my nails. It got kind of goopy towards the end, so I added it to the empties bag.
Toddler + Mommy Things:
- Bloom Baby Jumbo Wipes – Since trying these natural baby wipes, I haven’t looked back! They are good for delicate, rash and eczema prone skin. I am usually a Huggies fan as far as wipes go, but lately I have been buying only these for my little guy. If you prefer a cloth-like wipe like I do, you’d love these too, mamas!
- Honest Shampoo and Body Wash– This is one of our favorite body washes for Jake. Its gentle, hypoallergenic, and good for sensitive skin like his.
- Cetaphil Restoraderm Eczema Calming Body Moisturizer – We go through lots of these bottles and it just works perfectly to keep skin soft, smooth, and moisturized. It’s gentle enough for new babies to use, as well. There’s no heavy fragrance and it doesn’t leave his skin oily.
- Honest Hand Sanitizer Spray, Lavender – My go to formula for hand sanitizer while out and about! The spray bottle makes it easy to use with a little busy toddler around. The Honest Company makes such good things for families to use. I guess I’m drawn to the lavender scent!
Hair Care + Perfume
- As I am Coconut CoWash – This smells like you could eat it and it cleanses hair without stripping it- WIN! Definitely a favorite hair care product and constant repurchase.
- Juicy Couture – I’m a Juicy Couture girl, always will be! This perfume is not only nostalgic, but I just love the scent of the original! This was a travel size/purse spray that I finally ran out of.
Overall, I will repurchase everything mentioned, with the exception of the Aveeno Eye Cream and the Smoky Poppy body wash. Those two things I’m sure work great for someone else, but they are not right for me.
That’s it for this round of empties! I hope you got some helpful info from it! Have you tried any of these things?
