Just as seasons change in nature, seasons change in life. When life is viewed seasonally, we recognize that each season warrants its own set conditions. As a result, we are prompted into adapting appropriately to the unique characteristics of each. Tough seasons and hardships will come to every one of us at some point in life. Because of this, being prepared for challenging seasons makes us careful not to allow obstacles to interfere with our relationship with the Lord.
It is human nature to draw back and pull away when we go through unpleasant experiences, but withdrawing from the Lord not in our spiritual nature! We are made to be in fellowship with Him, therefore keeping our spiritual nature much stronger than our human nature is essential to the quality of life for the Christian. As the seasons change in our lives, the best defense is to draw closer to the Lord, not running away from Him.
Actively looking for Him in everything is a rather proactive approach that always proves to be effective. Acts 14:17 is a reminder to us that the goodness of God can always be seen, if one truly looks around. Friends, God has left proof of His being here on Earth! Imagine the awe of watching a sunrise in the morning, or the sun setting in the evening, and even of being filled with joy as when hearing the innocent laugh of a child. These are just some of the many delightful experiences this beautiful gift of life has to offer. Each reminds us of God’s omnipresence.
The Lord is with us always and He is all around us! Furthermore, God’s presence goes with us no matter where we go. In Him we have a constant companion.
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10 even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast. (Psalm 139:8-10)
A closer look at the meaning of the word companion reveals the depth of the love of Jesus. A companion is defined as: “a person or animal with whom one spends a lot of time or with whom one travels; one of a pair of things intended to complement or match each other.” Therefore, our Father accompanies us through every season of life, the good and the seemingly bad. In fact, He is there for us cheering us on, as well as comforting us along the way. It is great to rest in knowing that we never have to go through anything in life alone.
In conclusion, having the understanding that He is our constant companion, makes us better in every way; we simply feel better as we go through storms in life. Likewise, one will even become a better person through being in His presence.
