I’m excited to share a little today about some of my Holiday Decorating Traditions in partnership with Wayfair and fellow blogger, Lindsay!  Keep reading to see what I consider some of my Holiday Decorating Traditions, as well as a little peek into how I like to decorate for Christmas time.

Holiday Decoration Traditions

Everyone has those traditions that make the holidays extra special. Lots of baking and good food & drinks, holiday family outtings, Christmas books and movies, and fun Christmas pj’s are just a few of ours!  When it comes to Holiday Decorating Traditions, I have a quite few as well!  Decorating all year long with mixed metals is my go-to.  Christmas time is when I to add a little bit more glitz and glam to those metals around the house.

The tree is my focal point, with a good mixture of winter & natural elements, a few rustic touches, and of course a bit of glam. Galvanized things and pops of traditional red for the holidays can be found throughout. Faux fur, flocking, and yes, buffalo plaid, are absolute musts and all add to the cozy factor!

It’s now a tradition to shop the after Christmas sales for finds to add to the upcoming year’s decor. Aside from my son’s keepsake and the sentimental ornaments, some of my favorite ornaments have been found during the after christmas sales online and in stores!  These ornaments are perfect because they incorporate mercury glass and give a mixed metals vibe with the light beading on top.

I’m the only girl in the house, so adding girly touches here and there are necessary! Check out these precious little cupcake ornaments and this darling mini chandelier! Coordinating gift wrap to the theme helps things look put together. Prints with brown kraft paper backgrounds, gold glitter, and buffalo check are always a good idea in my book!

Holiday themed throw pillows to our white sofas really helps make it feel festive and bright! Having a white ‘base” is a lifesaver because I can change out pillows depending on what vibe I am going for with my holiday decor each year. I ordered these and I can’t wait for them to arrive this week!

One of my favorite (and easiest) centerpiece ideas is to make use of glass apothecary jars and the extra ornaments you have! Bowls filled with pinecones and using tree slices on tables is a fantastic way to incorporate more the natural elements holiday decor. Holiday scented and beautifully packaged candles helps to set the ambiance.

My goal when decorating and shopping for Christmas is to make my home reflective of the true beauty of the season; the birth of Christ. A warm, pretty, and welcoming atmosphere is really easy to create when you focus on filling your home with the people and the things that you truly love.
