November Baby Favorites

It’s hard to believe, but another month is coming to a close! I hope all of you have had an enjoyable month and a great Thanksgiving holiday. It’s time for November baby favorites and Jacob is now 10 months old… I honestly don’t even know where the heck time has gone! I’m really cherishing every single moment with him. Below I have  a quick view of the first five things we’ve liked using for the past few weeks:

  1. Babiators– Aside from being absolutely adorable, these little kid friendly sunnies come with a warranty that can’t be beat! I love the large age range as far as sizing and fit goes and they are polarized. Super cute!
  2. Medela Quick Steam Bags– These have been great to use to sanitize those bazillion bottle parts that come with Dr. Brown’s bottles (haha!) at the end of the days that I don’t quite have a full load of dishes to run through a dishwasher cycle. I just pop these in the microwave with a little water to create steam and all of the parts are quickly sanitized for the next feeding. These were great for my pump parts when I was breastfeeding as well.
  3. The Night Before Thanksgiving– This book has been a constant read aloud and a baby favorite from his November themed book basket. The cute pictures keep him interested and he tries to turn the pages when we read.
  4. YouVersion Bible App for Kids– It doesn’t get any cuter than this app for teaching babies and kiddos about The Bible. It has cute characters, easy to understand explanations, and bright and engaging graphics to keep little ones interested. This app has been awesome at bedtime as part of our routine.
  5. Eddie Bauer  Classic 3 in 1 Wood High Chair– I have all great things to say about this highchair and I love how it looks sleek, is functional, and matches décor without being an eyesore like some highchairs and baby products on the market.
  6. BABY_FAVORITES_NOVEMBER

  7. Baby Mum Mum rice rusks– Jacob is loving these rice rusks and it’s so cute to see him bite into them using those few little teeth of his! I like the individually wrapped 2 pack servings that are so easy to throw in the diaper bag and go.

Make Your Own Easy Homemade Baby Food

How_to_make_easy_homemade_babyfood_puree

Today is all about making easy homemade baby food! I have had the best time making baby food for Jacob! He thinks the food is pretty tasty and I enjoy the whole process of making it for him, coming up with my own recipes for him, following fun recipes I find, and also I like knowing what exactly goes into his food and into his system.Introducing one new food at a time every 3-4 days and keeping a notebook of what has and what has not been introduced is very helpful in the beginning. Once you have individual foods that have been safely introduced, it’s great to begin mixing the approved individual foods together and having some fun with variety of foods and textures.  The notebook also includes information on whether or not he liked or did not like certain foods on their own, and also what happened with different combinations given. I find the notes and photos taken of him trying each food for the first time to be a good little keepsake as well.

It’s not only cost effective to make your own baby food, but it actually takes very little time and is pretty simple [Read more…]

Great Fall Children’s Books

FUN FALL BOOKS FOR KIDS

I wanted to share just a few of my picks for great Fall children’s books that I have used in the past in my classroom and that I currently use at home with Jacob.  I like to keep themed book baskets with lots of fiction and non fiction selections to choose from for our reading times. He really likes listening to stories and looking at the pictures-it’s really cute 🙂 These Fall children’s books are great early childhood selections. One includes a bit of rhyme and repetition, some teach cause and effect, and also sequencing skills. These are all equally great for helping young children make connections between what they are reading and what goes on in their own lives. Two of these selections also have YouTube read aloud versions you may enjoy during story time, on the go, or just the audio during nap/quiet time, just as we have. I have been sure to include the videos for the two that have read aloud versions down below.  Just click the book titles for a summary and where to buy!

  1. Leaves by David Ezra Stein
  2. The Leaves Are Falling One by One by Steve Metzger
  3. A Day at the Pumpkin Patch by Megan Faulkner & Adam Krawesky
  4. Clifford’s Puppy Days: The Silly Scarecrow by Scholastic
  5. The Seasons: Fall by Nuria Roca
  6. When the Leaf Blew In by Steve Metzger

Read Aloud Versions are available on YouTube of Leaves and The Silly Scarecrow:

I hope you enjoy!

Favorite Baby & Mommy Products for September

I have a few baby and mommy favorites to share for today’s post! September is quickly coming to a close and has been a great month for sure. Jacob is growing up way too fast and we have been enjoying lots of things for the entire month. So, I wanted to take some time and share a few of our favorites and why we like them. Take a look!

SEPTEMBER baby Favorites

1.Bright Starts Teethe Me Pal Teether– Jacob is teething and absolutely adores this little blue elephant teether. The design is so clever- it has four legs that mimic baby’s own fingers! He gets hours of soothing relief from this thing. It’s the best $5 ever spent and definitely a favorite baby product of ours! I like how the body of the elephant is easy for his little hands to hold and how it is dishwasher safe.
2.Fisher-Price Superstar Step n’ Play Piano– This bright and fun activity center keeps baby very interested because of the colors and there’s so much to do. With the glider rails he is able to walk/practice walking down the center of the center forwards and backwards. The seat allows him to spin around to all areas front and back, or simply stay stationary and bounce to practice standing while playing with the gadgets. What I love most is that it grows with him so he can continue to use it until he is a toddler, as it converts to have stand and play work stations for older kiddos once the seat is removed. The cute little piano base is fun for him too.
3.Dr. Brown’s Glass 8 Ounce Bottles– These bottles are great and I absolutely love using them! We have been using these since he was a newborn and while I was  breastfeeding to allow my [Read more…]

Autumn CrockPot Potpourri Recipe

Autumn finally here and it’s been quite lovely weather where we live so far! It’s nice to step outdoors to take in the crisp and cool autumn air, but sometimes it’s great to be able to enjoy the scents of the season while being inside your home without having to always burn a candle. The scent that this CrockPot recipe creates always leaves me feeling nostalgic and it is the perfect mix of spicy and sweet. Everyone in our household really loves the aroma this gives off once it simmers for a bit. Below you’ll find a quick, simple, festive, and yummy smelling recipe for an Autumn CrockPot Potpourri. There are lots of variations of this recipe out there, but I happen to prefer the way this one smells the best. Another plus is that for this recipe, most of the ingredients are probably already in your kitchen! This finishes up smelling like warm apple pie or pumpkin pie throughout your home depending on which of the two is used.  The smell is delightful and I thought some of you might like this too! The recipe is below.
